One Year Stats

We had Adelyn's 12 month well check appointment today.  The doctor confirmed what we already know.  Adelyn is short and chunky!  She is only 28 inches tall (we had to go back and remeasure because with the first measurement it said she shrank since last time) and she is in the 12%.  She weighs 19 pounds and 13 ounces, placing her in the 51%.  She may just have a huge growth spurt sometime!  The doctor said her estimated adult height is 5'4"-5'8" based off of mine and Travis' heights.

As shown by her stats, she LOVES to eat!  She will eat anything we put in front of her!  She only wants people food.  We haven't given her baby food in months and months!  Her favorites are broccoli, avocado, strawberries, and chocolate but she will eat anything we are eating!
Adelyn is a very healthy baby and on track developmentally.  The doctor was impressed with her verbal abilities.  He asked if she was saying words and I said just "dada" and "uh-oh."  Then while we were there, she said "story," "hi," "wow," and one other word that I can't think of right now.  It made me feel a little silly! Occasionally when we are at home she says things that sound like words or phrases, but I just think it is the intonation in her voice.  Often I hear what sounds like "I did it" and she has said "mama" and "yuck" a couple of times but not consistently.

She has been a lot more vocal lately even though she doesn't say many words.  She loves to walk around the house squealing, squawking, sweetly talking and singing.  I love when she will have a conversation with me!

Adelyn has become very independent!  She likes to do things on her own.  She won't even let me hold her hand while she is walking.  :(

She is always on the move!  She loves when I sing and will start dancing anytime she hears music!  It is pretty adorable!

She loves to climb on any and everything!  She got a slide for her birthday and has already mastered going up the steps and climbing up the slide!  She can get up onto the kitchen table by herself.  She climbs into her toybox and anything shaped like a basket or box!  The other day we found her on top of a 3' storage container and climbing up her walker!  This little girl takes after her daddy with their love of climbing and taking risks!  Travis already wants to take her to the rock climbing gym!
She understands and obeys (most of the time) commands like "stop," "come here," sit down" and "don't touch."

She is finally sleeping through the night again!

On her birthday she only had one tooth.  Now, 4 days later, she has 3 teeth-the bottom 2 and top right incisor have come in!  Her top, front two teeth and left incisor will be in any day!

She is one of the happiest babies I know!  She hardly ever cries and smiles all the time!  (I am not even exaggerating!) You will most likely find her smiling or with her tongue sticking out or with a mischievous grin!

She loves to explore, discover new things and see we are doing.

My new favorite thing that she does is give me hugs.  She will go in her playroom and play independently forever, but every now and then she will come out and give me a hug then go back to playing.  I LOVE her hugs!

This is cheesy, but she really is the light of our lives!  Her little smile makes every day better!  I can't cuddle her enough or give her enough kisses!  She is just such a happy, content, sweet baby!  We love you so much Adelyn Jane!!

Adelyn's First Birthday!!

Yesterday my baby turned 1!!  I know it is cliche to say, but I can't believe how fast time has gone by!  I really feel like it was not long ago that I was pregnant and now my baby is one!  A girl at church today told me that she still thinks of me as a pregnant lady and that it seemed like I was pregnant longer than Adelyn has been alive.  Time is just so different with a baby!

We had a few of my Adelyn's friends come over for a little party.  It was so much fun watching all the little girls run around!  We got together for one of the birthdays last year and it is amazing to see how much they all have changed!  Not all of them were here so we will take a picture of all of them together some other time.

It isn't a good party unless there is food!  I had fun finding foods in all the colors of the rainbow!  Thanks Jill for the rainbow jello recipe!

All the moms got to dress up with their girls!  This is my favorite picture even though it is a little blurry!  It makes me want to have all little girls!  Aren't they just the cutest?!  (The little redhead is not hers, but wishes she was!)
Travis gave Adelyn a ball pit!  It was the hit of the party!
They also had a little wagon and slide that kept them entertained!
Every time I took a picture, cute little Gracie would say "cheese" and then "I see" so she could look at it!  She is adorable!  I get most of Adelyn's hand-me-downs from her!
I LOVE this picture!  She has such stunning features!
We have such great friends here!  I am sad that several of them are leaving this summer and then several more are leaving next summer.  I guess that's what I get for being friends with military wives.  I really do have THE BEST friends a girl could ask for!  Thanks to everyone that came!

After her nap, we skyped with my parents and sang happy birthday to Adelyn!  This was after we helped her blow out her candle!
To no surprise, Adelyn LOVED the icing and the fact that no one was stopping her from eating it!
Leisy is taking some official 1 year old pictures and cake smash next week.  Stay tuned for more!

St. Patty's Day

I am a day late, but Happy St. Patty's Day!  Last week was crazy and this week is going to be just the same!  I feel like I have had no time to just sit down.  I love being busy and feeling accomplished so I am not complaining.

This little munchkin is impossible to photograph lately!  She never sits still!  When she is still enough to snap a picture, she is making some crazy face!  I made an attempt though!
She doesn't know what to think of the dogs next door.
I can't figure out if she is scared of the grass or just doesn't like it!
She refused to walk on it!  Instead she did this bear crawl.  It was pretty funny!

Swings!

Saturday was the first beautiful day we have had in a while so we took advantage of it!  We aired out our house from being sick and went out and got some fresh air ourselves!  I can not wait until Spring is here to stay!

Travis brought home these beautiful Spring flowers to boost my spirits!
We went out in search of the famous Taco Truck in New Carlile but apparently they have not opened yet.  We will have to wait for the weather to heat up a little more I guess.  Instead we grabbed a quick lunch and went to the park.

We took Adelyn to the park last summer, but she was too small for everything.  This year she is going to love it!  We ended up just staying a short while because it did get a little chilly.  Adelyn loved watching all the kids, swinging and climbing up the rock wall.  She takes after her daddy and is a good climber.  She even figured out how to climb up onto our kitchen table today!

This is when we first put her in the swing.  I just love her pursed lips in this picture!  She didn't quite know what to do and just watched the other kids.
This little girl adores Travis and he adores her! Precious!
 The swing was a success!
But the other kids are still more fun to watch and it was a little cold with the wind blowing through her hair! (PS-check out her pigtails!  Her hair is long enough now!)
I am looking forward to more days spent in the sun!

Home Sick: 10 Month Touch Up

If you walked into our house right now, you would think it caught the "blue tape" pox.  There are blue spots everywhere!  On Wednesday, Ryan Homes is coming in to do our 10 month touch ups.  Side Note: I can't believe we have been in our house 10 months!!

Travis is very thorough when in comes to things like this!  He went through the whole house and marked almost every imperfection!  (I convinced him to let some things slide) I feel a little bad for the guys coming to fix everything!

For other Ryan Homes Bloggers, here are some things we found.  Note: I am just showing a few examples of each, not every thing!

Lots and lots of cracks!
This is in the back corner of the "Office."  It is about 2.5 feet tall!
There are tons of places where the baseboards are cracked like this!

Cracks by the ceiling.
Cracks in the overhang to the morning room.
Cracks all over our shower like this one.
Gaps where the counter is pulling away from the wall
Gaps in the laminate flooring
Tons and tons of nail pops!

Doors that won't shut all the way.

I don't know if you can tell, but this is our front door that they have already "fixed." It does not seal all the way.  This is with the door locked and push in all the way.  You can see light and feel air coming in!

I hope they do not get angry with us for marking so many minor things.  Luckily we do not have any major problems.
A couple other concerns:
Our heating and air unit.  It is always a lot warmer on the main floor than upstairs.  We can have the heat set to 70 on the main floor and the second floor will be 66 degrees and the bonus room 55.  That is a concern to me.
I think our dishwasher is a little off balance because occasionally there is a little water accumulation at the bottom.
The vent on our microwave doesn't really work either.
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head and we have not checked the outside of the house yet.  I will keep you posted on how the touch-ups go.
Please let me know of any other things that you found in your home that we should be on the look out for!

Edit:  We also have several hard spots under the carpet that need to be fixed.  In the office, it also seems like the padding has come apart and there is about a 3 inch strip of unpadded area going across the middle of the room.
Upstairs throughout the hall, there are several areas of creaks/pops that need to be fixed.
In the master bedroom, the carpet has bunched up and needs to be smoothed out.
