I have a new favorite activity! Buying baby girl clothes!!! I thought that I loved shopping for myself, but shopping for our baby girl is a thousand times better!! Not only that, but I have been introduced to the Nickle Auction. About once a month, our ward puts on a nickle auction. I went for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a blast! I got so much for so cheap!!! This is what I came home with!
8 pairs of leggings, 11 onesies, 4 jumpers, 7 shirts, 3 pairs of pajamas, 4 skirts, 3 shorts, 3 pants, a pair of tights, 1 sun hat, 3 pairs of shoes, 3 board books, 2 pairs of pants and a shirt for me...and the grand finale...a car seat and stroller!!!
I showed everything to Travis and then asked how much he thought I spent. What do you think? You were probably wrong! I spent a grand total of $2.50!!! All that for $2.50!! Can you believe that?!? That is why it is my new favorite activity! I came off with an amazing deal! A lot of the stuff is 12-18 months, but that is ok. I just had a hard time bidding on the smaller clothes knowing that other people needed it sooner than I did. There were a couple things I really wanted, but didn't want to bid against someone. That was the hardest part for me! I don't want to hurt or offend anyone. I will get better at bidding for the things I really want though.
Since nothing was smaller than 6 months, Travis took me shopping the next day for an outfit. This is what we ended up with. Can you guess which outfit Travis picked out? (answer: the puma stuff. He wants our girl to be athletic)
Fur vest for winter, cheetah pants and cardigan, birdie dress, puma onesies and leggings, and cheetah print shoes.
Travis said that I have a problem. I just love all the tiny, adorable, girly clothes. I still don't have a newborn outfit, but I do have 3 months. I guess that means I have to go back and get more. :) This is going to be fun! (FYI-I got everything on sale! I have enough control to not spend all our money!)
Not only do I have a problem, but my mom does too. Apparently she started buying girl clothes before I even knew what I was having. (My sister is pregnant too, so she figured her chances were high to have at least one girl.) When she came up this past weekend, she brought a couple things. I LOVE this little purple outfit. She said she had to get it because it looked like something I would wear. Little did she know that I have a gold shirt a lot like it (just with ruffles...no flowers). Now I need to start making some hair accessories to match her clothes!

It's a...
I went back in last week to confirm the gender on Baby Barlow and it is official...It's a Girl!!!
I am sooo excited! We would have been happy either way, but I am glad it is a girl! There has been a baby boom at church and they have been mostly little girls. By the time I have our little baby, there will be 12 girls under the age of 1. How crazy is that?!?! I think there have only been 3 boys. I am so excited that my Baby girl will have lots of friends to play with! The other thing is that you all know that I LOVE shopping and I love all things girly (pink, glittery and ruffly)! Little girls are so much more fun to shop for than little boys. I am excited to start getting things ready for her arrival!

Seussical
As I was downloading some pictures from my camera, I realized that I had not posted about our date to Seussical. For those of you that know me well, you know that I LOVE children's books. Dr. Seuss is one of my favorites because you can enjoy them and learn something no matter how old you are. When I saw that the dinner theater here was playing Seussical the Musical, I knew we had to go. We invited a few friends and planned to go.
Upon arriving at the theater, we realized that we had the closest seats in the house...front and center! We were so close to the actors that I even got spit on one time. Before the play started, we had a nice dinner. Their sweet potato souffle lived up to the rave reviews. The rest of the meal was good, but my pregnant belly was being picky at the time. Travis LOVED it! The company also was great! We heard some pretty funny stories from our friends that night! After dinner, the play began. It followed the story or Horton Hears a Who. My favorite actor was the little boy and the man that played the Cat and the Hat. They were amazing! I was entertained and laughed throughout the night.
At the end of the night, I wanted to get a group picture. We were all outside, but no one else was around to take the picture. As the group was getting arranged, an older gentleman came out so I asked him to take the picture. I was very nervous handing off my camera into his shaky hands. We all posed, but he couldn't get the picture to take. I showed him how again, but still nothing. By this time, his wife came out and she finally got the camera to work. It is not the best picture in the world and it doesn't show the dinner theater in the background, but no one's head is chopped off!
Once again I just have to tell you how amazing my friends are! I seriously love it here because of them. I am so sad that several of them are with the military and won't be here forever. I know new people will move in, but nothing can replace a good friend!
Thanks everyone for a fun night...a month ago!

Random
A little boy that knew me from school last year came up to me to give me a hug and say bye before he got on the bus. After hugging me, he looked at my belly and asked if I was going to have a baby. I said yes and he said, "I knew because you were a little bit skinnier." Thank you for noticing that I am fatter but let's look at the bright side and think of how he thinks of me as skinny.
Thought: Sometimes I like to look at old pictures of myself to remind myself that I will be skinny again.
As I was getting up off the couch the other day, Travis said, "You really are starting to look like a pregnant lady." I asked why and he replied "just a lot of reasons. You don't move the same anymore."
Non-pregnancy related: I hate politics!!! I can not wait until these elections are over! Yes, I am watching the debate right now but that is because it is the ONLY thing on the 4 channels we get.
Tonight at Young Women's, we did a health night. My friend Leisy came in and taught the girls about nutrition and then did a boot camp class. It has been since school started that I have done a class. It felt great, but I am going to be sore tomorrow! I have been running weekly, but she told me she is teaching Tuesday evenings so I am going to start going again. I can't wait!

Hair
I finally went in and had my hair cut this week! I have decent before pictures, but my after picture isn't that great. I took it the next morning before school started. My bangs kept getting in my face so I snapped a picture before I pulled them back.
Long hair:

Short hair:
Sorry it is blurry. The lighting is bad, but the color is darker too. I absolutely love it! I just have to get used to having bangs.
Last, but not least...a belly pic. (This is for you Doreen!!) I am just over 14 weeks in this picture.

First Ultrasound
One of my friends works at the hospital that I am going to for my pregnancy in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Ultrasound and Genetics Department. Do you know what that means? She does ultrasounds all day.
She texted me on Thursday asking how far along I was because she needed to do an ultrasound on someone between 12 weeks 2 days and 14 weeks 2 days for a recertification. It just so happened that I was 13 weeks 5 days. She got me in the next day!
I just have to say, it was the coolest thing EVER!!! I have never seen an ultrasound done before. I have only seen pictures. As soon as she put the probe on my belly, you could see the baby. I have a real baby inside of me! She kept laughing at me because I was so excited about everything. I was excited to see a baby, I was excited to see only one, I was excited to see him/her move, I was excited to hear the heartbeat. I could have watched the monitor all day. It was soooo cool!
She did a bunch of measurements for her recertification and then answered a bunch of questions. She pointed out the different parts of the baby (because honestly, I didn't always know what I was looking at). She showed us the brain and how you could actually see the two hemispheres. So cool! She showed us the profile. She showed us the scary skeleton view. She showed us the heart and how you could see the two chambers beating. She showed us the umbilical cord and the blood flowing through it. She showed us his/her tiny hands and ten little fingers. She showed us how you can determine gender. (It is still early, so it could develop and be different, but she gave us an early guess!) She showed us a 3-d image where you could see his/her cute little face. Pretty much it was AMAZING!! I am so glad she brought me in early to see this amazing little miracle.
They aren't as good because they are pictures from my phone of the scan, but here is my little baby!
It is a good thing I can't feel anything yet. Here he/she is pushing against my belly! He/She kept moving and flipping the entire time! We have an active little one!

I like to think that he/she is sucking his/her thumb. It is probably just beside the mouth though.
This one took me a minute to realize what I was looking at. The 3-d images are so cool once you figure them out. The baby is on the right side of the image, laying on his/her back and looking up. I love this little face already!
Last but not least...Travis' favorite. He says our baby looks like Red Skull from Captain America. Kind of creepy huh?
I go back in next Friday to confirm the gender. I can't wait!! I have been dying to buy baby clothes!!!

Fiddler on the Roof
Wonder of Wonders, Miracle of Miracles! This is the line that has been stuck in my head all day. Why? Well, let me tell you a story. Last night I had a migraine so I went to bed between 9 and 9:30. When I woke up, I realized it was pretty light outside and Travis was awake. The first thing that came out of my mouth was, "Is it really morning?" I was a bit confused that it was morning and I had not woken up 1 single time to take a bathroom break and get a midnight snack. I didn't really know what to do. Then, on top of that, it was a quarter till 8 when I woke up. That meant that I had slept almost 11 hours straight. I don't know how that even happened! I woke up with so much energy! It was amazing! I don't know what I did to deserve such a treat. I really had a hard time believing it at first!
I know you are probably already sick and tired of hearing pregnancy stories, but that is what is going on in my life right now. So...sorry.
I do have a school story. I had another one of my students get suspended off of the bus this week. How does that happen? My kids are 5 years old! If I were to guess a student to get suspended off the bus, I would guess it would be a 3rd or 4th grader!
Next topic, Travis. When it comes time for Travis to make a big purchase, he becomes obsessive about it. He does all kinds of research to find the best ratings or top of the line models. He goes to all the stores and looks online for the best deals. It becomes his life. Today, as soon as we got home from church, he continued to search. I looked over to see this:
It must be cold in our house. I think it feels fine. :)
Stay tuned for the next post. It is an exciting one!! I had my first ultrasound done!!!
