3 Months

Last Saturday was Adelyn's 3 month birthday.  I can not believe how fast time has flown!  On her birthday, she was stuck in her carseat all day as we drove down to Emerald Isle.  The following Saturday was her 100th day of being alive and once again she was stuck in her car seat as we drove home.

Although she was in her carseat for both those big days, she definitely has seen her fair share of adventures.  Travis and I began to think about all the things that she has done the past three months and it has been a lot.  I guess that is one of the benefits of being born right before summer begins!  It is fun because everytime we go do something, it is her first time.

Aside from all the fun things, she has developed a ton.  She went from being my tiny newborn to miss social!  Over the past week even, you can see different milestones.  She learned how to really roll over and started to giggle!  She rolled over at about 3 weeks but I think it was a fluke.  She did it a couple times but after she gained some weight she stopped.  It is still a lot of work for her with her chub, but she can do it now.  My favorite milestone is her giggling!  I LOVE it!  At the beach it all started while we were giving her a bath.  I think Travis made a face at her and she laughed.  Travis and I both laughed in response and she thought it was hilarious and laughed some more.  I find myself trying to get her to laugh all the time now.  I pretend to eat her tummy and it cracks her up!

At 3 months, she is still sleeping through the night!  Wahoo!  She doesn't hate tummy time as much and her neck is getting pretty strong.  She loves to play with her pink ball.  She will just stare at it and put it in her mouth.  She "talks" all the time!  I love it!  If you coo at her, she will coo back and she is very good at holding conversations.  She loves to eat and you can tell by looking at her!  People comment on her rolls and say things like, "she is a healthy baby" or "she doesn't miss a meal does she."

This past week she has really made a connection with Travis.  She used to just want me to comfort her, but now she wants Travis too.  This makes my heart smile!

Adelyn is still the center of our world and I can't tell you how much I love my sweet baby!

Emerald Isle Part 3: Cousins

Now that all of the cousins are grown up, we are starting to have kids of our own.  I love having lots of kids around again to bring back the youthful energy because this is what the adults look like!

Emerald Isle Part 2: Kitesurfing

Last year Nathan, Travis and I took a kite surfing lesson.  We all had a lot of fun but Nathan thought it was something he could get into so he bought a trainer kite.  He brought it with him this year and we all took a turn flying it.
View looking up.
It is powerful enough to drag Nathan across the sand and pull him off the ground!
Andrew trying it for the first time.

I love this picture!  Mom tried it and the kite almost took her away in the wind!

Dad and I also flew it, but I do not have pictures.  Here is a picture of my adorable baby instead!

Later, Nathan and Travis came up with the idea to make a mock board to use in the water.  They found an old skim board and bolted down some water shoes to it.  It looked promising, but this is how it turned out.  Everyone is watching and that is Travis on the ground in the background.  Looks like they will have to buy a real board!
For now, we can pretend like this is him!

Emerald Isle Part 1

Every year my family goes to Emerald Isle, North Carolina for a family reunion.  We have been going ever since I can remember.  It started out as just my mom's siblings and kids.  It has now expanded to my mom's siblings and kids, plus their spouses and kids.  I think it has grown increasingly more fun now that more kids are being added to the mix.

This year is obviously Adelyn's first year at the beach and she had a lot of firsts!  Hopefully she will have many more trips and memories in her future!

We woke up eeeeearly Saturday morning to leave.  When I say early, I mean 2 am!  I actually liked driving that early.  It made the time go much faster than driving during the day time when you just want to hurry up and get there to play.

Adelyn did AMAZING in the car!  It took us 12 hours so you should be impressed to know that she only cried once!  She mostly entertained herself by looking in the mirror and playing with her fingers.

This is what we all looked like when we started the trip!  (that is a yawn, not cry)
When we arrived, Adelyn got to meet Granny and Papaw for the first time!  Unfortunately this is when she got a little fussy.  She was tired of being cooped up in the car all day and there was a lot going on that she got over stimulated!

Hanging out with Papaw
Watching the Braves with Granny.
After a little visiting, we took her down onto the beach.  Here she is putting her feet into the sand for the first time!  It looks like the is going to be a beach babe!  She loved it!
I LOVE this picture!  My two loves!
 Toes in the water!
 Mommy and Adelyn!
 Matching toes!
 Daddy and Addie!

Perfect

I have a problem and I think that most other women can relate:  the need to be perfect.  To have perfect hair/makeup, be the perfect weight, have a perfect outfit, perfect car, perfect house, perfect exercise and diet regimen, perfect grades, perfect children, basically perfect life.

Since having Adelyn, a lot of these fears have diminished.  I realize that no one is perfect and everyone has a bad day every once and a while but it is hard for me to feel like I am not good enough.  I am starting to accept that it is ok to not be perfect and I do things now that I would never dream of doing a couple years ago, like going out in sweats or yoga pants. I have learned that life is more enjoyable when you don't stress about these things or worry about what other people think.

Now that I have a baby girl I am trying to get this false theory out of my head that you have to be perfect so I don't pass it on to her.

So, here are some photos to prove that we are not perfect.

Sometimes we have a bad hair day!

Or we aren't dressed our best.
And sometimes we just have a fat day and it is OK!

Best Buds

Last week, Adelyn got to go play with her friend Avonlea.  Adelyn is 2 months and I believe Avonlea is almost 7.  It is amazing to see the developmental differences and how much they change in such a short time!  I love the stage Adelyn is in now, but Avonlea is even more interactive and fun to play with!

Here is the best picture I could get of the two girls.  Adelyn can only sit up when propped and Avonlea is so mobile that I didn't want to risk her knocking Adelyn over so you will have to deal with a laying down shot.  It looks like they are both fighting to be the center of the photo!
Drew was such a good helper while I was there.  He helped put pacifiers back in and get toys for the girls to play with.  Not to mention that he loved having my full attention while both the girls were asleep!  I think this picture is so cute!
After we got home, we took a few pictures!  I just think she is so cute all the time that I take a bazillion pictures of her.  Look at those cheeks!  I just kiss them all the time!
I can't remember if I posted this already, but she loves playing with her clothes.  She pulls them up to her face so you can see her belly.  I think it is so cute!

Young's Jersey Dairy

Today was the perfect day!  The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect!  Travis and I decided to take advantage of it by spending the day outside.  We went to Young's Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs.
We started off with a game of miniature golf.  I love to play miniature golf but we haven't been in over a year.

Adelyn and I were on a team.
 We played against Travis.
 Guess who won?
 The Girls!!

Adelyn slept most of the time but I think we all had fun!
To cool off, we got some of their famous ice cream.  It was delicious!  I got caramel cookie dough and Travis got toffee.
We toured the farm a little.
"I'll take you for a ride on my big green tractor."
Adelyn got to meet some farm animals for the first time.
We took this picture as we were leaving.  It makes me laugh.  This cow looks psycho and I think Adelyn looks funny sitting up there by herself.  She is my little chunky monkey!
I am looking forward to more summer days!
