I just have to take a moment to celebrate the little things.
This year, I have a pretty tough class. Only 3 of them went to preschool so I had to start from the basics of teaching them the school routine. They are still learning how to raise their hands, share and stand in line. Only half of them know more than 5 letters. It has been a struggle for me, but we are learning together.
Since many of them have never been away from home that long before, I have had to deal with many crying little girls. One will start and then the others join in. I know that they just miss their mom, but sometimes I just feel like they hate my class/me.
Yesterday as the kids were leaving, one of the little girls gave me a big hug and started skipping away to her bus. She stopped, turned around, and with a big smile said, "bye Mrs. Barlow, see you tomorrow!"
It seriously made my day. It made me realize that she actually likes school and she likes me. It put a big smile on my face and made everything worth it!

I hope my kids have a teacher like you! I can only imagine how hard it is to have a room full of kindergarteners (there is a reason I teach 18+ year olds!), but you are such a good teacher. I am glad that girl let you know it.
